Hamilton, Burlington mayors want Ontario to consider involuntary addiction treatment
The Ontario Big city Mayors caucus has asked the Ontario government to consider involuntary treatment for mental health and addiction patients in order to prevent further deaths. It seems that our leaders are finally realizing that dead people cannot voluntarily ask for treatment. Not to mention that voluntary treatment is in short supply at best.
Sudbury police board calls on province to legislate involuntary addiction treatment
Sudbury’s police board is calling for involuntary addiction treatment. Mayor Paul Lefebvre, who sits on the board, took early note during the meeting that involuntary treatment would be a controversial point, but said some people refuse treatment and are sometimes “not well enough to make those decisions.”
