Imagine a time when all Canadians with addiction are treated the same as people with a physical illness.

Help Us Help Others

Families for Addiction Recovery (FAR) is a national charity founded by parents of children who have struggled with addiction from their teens. FAR is a volunteer run organization and we are changing how people think and talk about addiction.

  • We offer free peer support for families across Canada with loved one’s who struggle with addiction. In our fiscal year ended March 31, 2025, we answered over 700 calls to our live line, supported over 250 attendees in our peer support groups and close to 300 families received one-on-one peer support through our Peer to Peer or P2P program.
  • We are a voice for families to influence government policy.
  • We educate health care providers, law enforcement and community groups about stigma and the need for compassionate, evidence-based treatment on demand, protective drug policies and protective health laws.
